Canopy fairing, one piece, ready to install and paint from VikingAircraftEngines.com

Saves a ton of time and expense working with fiberglas materials and related skills.

You did buy a metal aircraft, correct?!

We made this part for the Prototype Viking 12. It was a bunch of work and that was even though we had all the supplies and skills already harnessed. After making the mold, we have sold 6 to 12 builders around the US. All but one loved the part. And I could tell from his comments he has NO idea whT he will be up against making his own. Such is fiberglass:). How hard is it to brush some glass cloth onto a surface with resin?  Well, it does take some learned skill to do it right. Practicing on you airplane might not be smart. Then all the fun of sanding / filling / sanding / filling / priming / sanding / painting:). I think our premade part is the way to go. Just tape down, use Vans templates to draw and trim, then glue down

Jan,

I bought the fairing some weeks ago and am close to installing it. What is the best way to handle the looks from the inside? My interior is black and the fairing is white. I'm concerned if I paint it black on the inside before glueing it down, the glue will not adhere correctly.

One way would be to sand it dull on the inside.  Then buy, West System epoxy resin at a boat supply store.  Also get their black tint and tint it after mixing it.  Brush it on the inside of the part and it will be a structural coat that you now can glue to with the black "Right Stuff" glue.

This is a good way if you can use the rest of the epoxy for something but could get expensive, if not.

You could also install the fairing without any paint, then use a brush to paint the inside, rather than spraying.

Or you could mask anywhere you will add glue, spray the part, unmask and glue.

I have been getting feedback on several installations with a 95/5% success ratio.  I will upload a customer picture shortly.

Thanks Jan. I'll try to figure out which method to use and let you know how it went. I'll try to get pictures.
