The RV-12 miracle

Before you read this prop test information about my Viking RV-12, I thought I would inject my impression of the Viking engine. Take-off is out of this world. Climb is over 1,000 fpm. You have to be in this plane to experience the thrill of flying behind the Viking engine. I had a chance to fly the Viking RV N97HV for about four hours the past two days. Warp Drive sent me a high taper prop for testing. It is a 68" diameter ground adjustable. I started with 15 degrees pitch and takeoff roll was a…See More

Testing the Viking Engine

For Viking it is important for us to do the right testing. We do not need people, that we don't know, to tell us what to test, how to test or that we are irresponsible because we don't test the way they feel the engine should be tested. I know from experience, that there are several more tests to do, in addition to the gearbox. Those that are not familiar with these engines, but pretend to be, have no idea of the relationship of all the components that make this work. You could have the…See More

Air Venture Viking RV-12 display

Posted on July 17, 2011 at 7:07pm 0 Comments

There will not be an RV-12 with a Viking engine at Oshkosh this year.  However, there will be 3 Viking powered aircraft flying all the way from Florida.  I guess, if they all make it, the engine must do OK :)  In any event, please come and see us outside at booth 255, between the large 4 exhibit buildings.  We will have an RV-12 engine giveaway to the first person bringing in 25 sales leads, ending in sales.  So, if you round up 25 sales, your Viking is free.

Thanks for the welcome Jan.  You should plan a trip to Oz - the recreational aviation scene here is very active and its a great place to fly - generally benign weather (no howling Kansas winds or tornados) and the highest mountain we have is under 8,000 ft. I know of more than a few people here watching progress on the Viking engine very closely. Of course, you could tuck an engine under your arm when you come and save me the freight cost . . . . he he.

Cheers, Mitch
