Before flying today I took two 5 gallon fuel containers to my local Kroger fuel station.  Got my .03 discount and purchased 10 gallons at $3.17 for 87 ethanol.  Topped off airplane and prepared to fly.  Takeoff is always exciting as by the time I have full throttle I'm in the air.  I love it when I look down at the terminal about 250 feet above it and look at the guys standing outside watching and listing to my takeoff.  Its very quiet.  I cruised over five of the local airports at 4500 msl at about 5100 rpm.  Fuel burn was about 4.3 gals at the lower rpm flying for 1.3 hours on this leg.  I haven't taken the time to set up the D180 as I kind of like looking over my right shoulder at the moller fuel gauge.  I set my GPS to remind me every 30 min. to look at the fuel gauge.  What a great time.  Cruised about 120 mph. Could go faster but I'm not in a hurry as I have 40 hrs to burn off.    Tomorrow I'm going back for more fun.  Ron Russ  N97HV    RV12Viking

You are killing me, Ron! However, even if my 12 was finished the wind here was 35 knots and switching from 180 to

020 through the day. Such is life in the midwest.
