It installed fairly easy. You must make sure it is fixed very tightly while the Rght stuff sets up.

Make sure the sides at the pivot are low enough to make a tight fit to the Boot Cowl.

We did very well on one side however the other could have been closer.

HI Brenda,

Have you completed the installation of the canopy fairing? Can you give your recommendations for those of us approaching this step?

Thanks,

The premade fiberglass canopy fairing fir very well on one side but not the other side.

It appears we will need to cut and modify after all, was hoping for a glove fit without doing any fiberglassing.

David, I'm on my third RV now and used the dremel tool with the cut off wheels until just recently when I was working on the RV12 cowl. For some reason I decided to try the Harbor Freight air hacksaw, and it just cut through the fiberglass like a knife through hot butter. Wish I had thought of it sooner......

Just my 2 cents, results may vary for others.

The Viking shield is the pre-made fiberglass layup for the RV-12 canopy offered by Viking

I used a Dremil and the Dremel 456 1-1/2" Fiberglass
Reinforced Cut-Off Wheels

Brenda, I'm not sure what you mean by "Viking Shield"  but in general, I use a pneumatic hack saw from Harbor Freight to trim fiberglass. It cuts nice and clean and is much quicker and easier than a jig saw or snips. I'm not sure what I paid for the saw from HF, but I think it was around $15.

Anyone whom has installed the Viking Shield I would like to discuss how to install
